Overview
Adding months and years is common for contracts, rentals and recurring appointments. Enter the date and the number of months or years to get the new date, with a note if the day of month had to be adjusted.
Formula
Add the months to the current month while keeping the day when possible. If the day does not exist in the target month, use the last day of that month.

Worked examples
A six-month contract

Month end
Adding one month to January 31, 2026 gives February 28, 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the day change in some cases?
Some months are shorter than the original date, so we use the last day of the target month instead of an invalid date.
Can I add only years?
Yes. Leave months at zero and enter the number of years.
Are leap years handled?
Yes. February 29 plus one non-leap year becomes February 28.
