Overview
Useful when planning two nearby events such as holidays, exams or trips. It shows the gap between them, which comes first, and a separate countdown for each.
Formula
Subtract the first event date from the second to get the number of days. A negative result means the first event comes earlier.
How it works
Enter the first event
The name is optional and the date is required.
Enter the second event
Choose the second date to compare.
Read the comparison
The gap, earlier event and both countdowns appear.
Worked examples
Two nearby holidays
Between January 1 and January 15: 14 days.
Reversed order
If you enter the later date first, the calculator identifies the second event as earlier.
Frequently asked questions
Can the result be negative?
The displayed gap is always positive, while the ordering shows which event is earlier.
Does it include both event days?
The main gap excludes the second event day; an inclusive value adds one day.
Can I use a different reference date?
Yes. Change the reference date to count down from that day.
